Apple won’t create backdoor for the government

“Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”― Benjamin Franklin

We do not live in a liberal society. In a liberal society, rights expand, not decrease. Once one  right is given up then the rest will surely follow.

The FBI is demanding Apple to create back doors to work around their encryption standards. This is a dangerous tool ripe for abuse and no government should have access to this power. Tim Cook on his own account called out the FBI and said this was an, “unprecedented step…[and] we oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand,” he wrote.   Read Apple’s Letter to Customers Here.

What will happen to Mr. Cook? If we look at our champions of information: Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, etc. these people are ostracized for fighting for our rights. Edward Snowden exposed illegal NSA operations and now lives in Russia. Assange is forced to live in an Embassy and cannot leave in fear for his freedom. Will the same happen with Tim?
